In 1936 the priest Don Titta Bulfon decided to convert an ancient religious structure (Sancturay of the Sacred Crucifix) in a place where to collect all bodies spread all over little war cemeteries in Carnia region. The project was commited to Giannino Castiglioni, who was already busy by building the Memorials of Redipuglia , Oslavia and Caporetto. In May 1939, just before Second War Word started, the Memorial has been opened.
Inside the Memorial you can find a painting of the artist Marino Sopracasa, insipired by the friulanish song “Little alpins stars” and a paint of the Carnic Porters where the body of Maria Plozner Mentil is deposited. Up to the altar you can see “Il Fante Crocifisso” of the sculptor Giannino Castiglioni, and “La Madonna delle Nevi”, painted in 1916 by the artist Fragiacomo of Venice decorating the chapel of Pal Grande.
